IP35 Pro - CPU Temp in bios: N/A

Hi guys.

Probably a simple fix. For some reason, a while ago my bios started showing N/A instead of the CPU temp in the bios. It's a bit annoying, but not the end of the world. Also, abit uguru seems to crash a lot whenever I try to change any settings with it.

Is there some setting I've turned off inadvertedly? Got the latest bios about a month ago. (I think 1.4? need to double check)

Ok, some ideas:

1. I've turned some kind of sensor off, somehow. I don't see where to turn it on.
2. I've done something to the firmware updating the bios. I think it was working after the bios update but can't be sure.
3. Heat / time / age has killed it.
4. I knocked it / damaged it when mounting the CPU heatsink.

I really don't have a clue guys, why would the temp sensor (which definately did used to work) show 'N/A' in the bios. I can take a photo if you like. It's in the abit uGuru, temp sensor bit. It's got a system and pwm sensor that both work and are at reasonable temps (30 / 40 degrees or so).

bad flash perhaps, have u tried going back one bios or reflashing the current one from a different source?

I downloaded the most recent one FROM abit. But I could re-flash with the same rom... there are no other hiccups though. Just seems a bit bizarre.

Surely if I'd damaged the sensor it would say something silly like 999*C or -40*C, rather than the rather tame 'N/A'. Almost as if it's been turned off.

Well from the lack of feedback / experience with this problem I can only assume it's broken somehow, I'll buy some kind of external fan controller with temp sensors in then.

I'll have a look tonight for you, Dreaming. There is a section in the BIOS to set thresholds and where you can turn monitoring on or off. I know this because I had an alarm go off for my CPU fan speed being too low! I think that section has temp thresholds as well and may well have the CPU temp monitoring in there but i'm not sure. It's the bit where you set fan speed thresholds but i'm not in front of my PC at the moment.

I've had a look through the BIOS settings you could check the settings in the following menus:

uGuru Untility --> ABIT EQ --> Temperature Monitoring

In this menu you should be seeing temps for:

- CPU Temperature
- System Temperature
- PWM Temperature

Each line should be enabled with an asterisk at the beginning surrounded by brackets (i.e. (*) ). Something along the lines of:

(*) CPU Temperature                        60C/140F.......................
(*) System Temperature                   35C/95F.........................
(*) PWM Temperature                      53C/127F........................

There is a possibility that the CPU Temp has been disabled (i.e. doesn't have the asterisk showing at the beginning of the line).

It does have the asterix, I can take if off and on again, it says the temp is N/A still. Not to worry, I'll have to come up with some solution to it. I might flash the latest bios onto it.

Installed an xternal program and it said -279*c.

What on earth?

^ LOL, that's close to zero Kelvins or Absoulte Zero if I remember my Physics lessons at school! That' where all molecular motion stops.
