Abit Ul8 Duel Core Problems

Newbie needs help with:
I purchased a barebones system: Abit UL8 MB, AMD Athlon 64x2 3200 processor and 1gig pc3200 DDR 400mhz ram I'm running it with windows XP Home edition. It is running fine and stable but only shows one core of the processor so I assume it is not running at its full potential. I have downloaded the latest bios for this mb downloaded 64 drivers from AMD and all the latest updates from windows but still not detecting the duel core. I have read all the forums I can find tried all the advice and still no results. Can anyone help. Thanks

PS: Problem solved. After reading the below posts I did some checking and it definatley is not a dual core processor and as a result thats probably why I cannot get it to detect as a dual core.

When you say its only showing a single core is that in windows or BIOS?

as far as I know a amd 3200 is single core only. dual cores on 939's go as low as 3800's but not 3200's so either you have no idea about your system. or someone who sold you that pc telling you its a dual core 3200 has conned you. if the bios is updated it would say its dual core too in the settings page. what cpu does your motherboard report? Im guessing it says AMD Athlon 64 3200.

Just had a quick look on the abit CPU support list and it confirms what moogle sad. X2 start from 3800.

Thanks guys. After reading your posts I pulled out the invoices and packages. I had bought two systems at about the same time. One for me and one for my son-in-law. His was the duel core mine was a plain Jane 3200 single core just as you suspected.
