    Abit I-n73hd

I just got an Abit I-N73HD (with core2duo, 1 GB RAM corsair) in an antec case (/antec PSU)

As the BIOS is not "posting", I was wondering if the ATX12V must be supplied to this motherboard or if it can run "only" on the standard 24pin ATX PSU ?

all new mobos need the ATX12V1 connected in addition to the main ATXPower - it's mostly what the CPU draws from.

Dago158, does this board have any OC options? Have you got it running yet?

I've got 1 here waiting on a CPU.
It's got voltage adjustments for Vcore, RAM, VTT, NB, GTLRef.
FSB, multi & CPURAM ratio settings.

I can upload the manual if you want to read it as it doesn't seem to be on abit's ftp yet.

Can it UNDERVOLT? Would make a good HTPC then! My Ip35 from Abit wont undervolt!

    Re: Abit I-n73hd

I don't know (no CPU for it) but recent abit mobo BIOS set the manually selectable low voltage level according to individual installed CPU VID.
If you have C1E & EIST enabled then it will of course run under that when full CPU power isn't required.

What are the onboard gfx like on this one? I had the F-I90HD and that was good for 1080p, can I expect the same for this do you think?

    Cheers...

Dont follow what U mean but let us know when you DO have a CPU. I'm also interested in the VGA "power" level same as previous poster

    I found the answer

Nvidia GeForce 7150/nForce 630i integrated chipset | Register Hardware

Bottom Line: Graphics slower, perhaps 60% of the X700 on the F-I90HD.

Every CPU has an individual VID (default voltage) & this varies even between nominally the same CPU model (e.g. look at Intel® Core™2 Quad Processor Q6600 - SLACR where you will see quite a range for nominally the same CPU, 0.85V-1.5V).
The abit mobos read that from the installed CPU & set that as the lowest voltage that you can manually select.

Now C1E & EIST work to lower the voltage & CPU multi (hence core clock) automatically when the system doesn't need full CPU power.
Take e.g. a CPU that may have a VID of 1.325 volts (which would be the lowest manually selectable voltage in the BIOS for that CPU installed in an abit) with C1E & EIST that may automatically drop the voltage down to e.g. 1.21V when the system is idling.

    Re: Abit I-n73hd

So, in short, the answer is NO, the mobo will not undervolt. It does have droop like most do, it does set at lowest you can but NO it wont allow you to undervolt. Pity, that is a useful feature to manage temps and power consumption

No, I think that you misunderstand - it will automatically undervolt when full CPU power isn't required & when full CPU power is required it will ramp up.
You can probably manually undervolt by running CrystalCPUID or similar.

As for Vdroop I'll tell you when my CPU arrives.

    Re: Abit I-n73hd

I've got a problem with my motherboard. Just tried putting all the components together and nothing, it powers on then turns off within the second. Cannot get it to post or output video signal.

As soon as I remove the CPU the power stays on BUT of course nothing happens, just the fans spin. I was really gutted as I had built it all neat and tidy then it didn't post.

So had to ask a favour and try a different (older s775) chip, to see if it was due to an older bios but still not posting, just the same problem as above. Extremely gutted to be honest! It's nearly a week gone and I can't figure what the problem is. can anyone help ?

    Cheers

    Ian

PS. tried the 4pin 12V power and even bought an official 8 pin adapter and neither make any difference.

    Re: Abit I-n73hd

    Its a Hiper Type-r PSU
    First CPU: e4500
Second CPU: Celeron something (old prescott one)
    RAM: patriot 6400 4-4-4-15 ish i think
nothing else connected except bare essentials.

currently plugged in outside of case (but no grounding issues could be found in the case itself :s)

EDIT: JUST CLEARED CMOS (did this before and it did nothing) but power is on and i have display... will report back in 5 mins after ive updated bios
updated bios with the celeron chip in. just gonna swap the stuff over and take my time (tho i'll check it first )

    Re: Abit I-n73hd

    Ok...

Well installed the new CPU after upgrading the BIOS all went fine. Swapped over the CPU and no video out (on board or when I attach a graphics card). The board now responds and turns on, but it just puts the fans on full speed - and doesn't display any video.

It's so annoying, this is the worst - most complicated build ever! (never had any of these problems with amd lol)

    Help much appreciated
