FAO: Sean - RMA Service for UK Customers?

    Is this true??

Apart from Abit’s ‘wares, we were also alerted that the UK office has lost all but one person and has effectively shut down. To RMA a board now you have to send it directly to the Netherlands instead – while we were told this should prove a faster turnaround time, it’s also more expensive for us end users to ship it out of the country. So while there were a lot of smiles from (most of) the Abit crowd here in CeBit, it still looks like tough times ahead for UK customers.

if true that would be very negative from abit, and I would question whether to purchase from them again, every time I have had to rma something outside of the UK it has been a disaster

I spoke to Sean 2 weeks back about a possible RMA and he was happy to let me send it to the UK office.

remember that in the UK in the 1st year your first port of call should be your vendor.

If this report proves to be true then it will be a shame but if abit NL can keep the standard up that abit UK set it needn't be a big problem imo.

Re: FAO: Sean - RMA Service for UK Customers?

I can confirm that the UK office will close and have the following statement for all of you.

    RMA is sent to the
reseller who either sends this direct to ABIT or to the distributor. So
for the end user, there will be no change seen. The changes are in the
background. Also for technical support this is being centralized to the
European HQ where there will be a toll free number in place in a few
weeks which will be open 10-5pm, which is longer than the hours that
    were operated in the UK.

Ouch, I feel sorry for the people losing their jobs - I've lost my job twice in similar circumstances due to cost effectiveness, if you have lost yours then all the very best.

From what you have said it shoudnt effect us customers in terms of postage expense.

Will Abit still provide customer support here?

Im not sure whats going to happen to the forum. It will either be unsupported or someone from another abit office will take over.
And as for the Job im looking forward to the move to a less stressful environment.

Re: FAO: Sean - RMA Service for UK Customers?

    Good Luck Sean.

I have a feeling that my next motherboard purchase wont be an ABIT board though.
The main reason i stuck with ABIT was the support here. If that goes then the market opens again.
