    IP35 Dark Raider

Im having several problems with the board, to start heres the spec

Q6600 @ stock (Core temp average 34C on idle, so HSF is fine)
Arctic freeer pro 7 (with the cpu header plugged in)

    Ip35 Dark Raider (problem?)

2Gb Geil Ultra low (upped the voltage to the 2.1 due to the spd not reporting properly)
8800gt Leadtek with zalman, with the pci-e power in
620 Hx Corsair (with the 24pin, the 4 pin molex and the other 6 pin all plugged in)
500gb Samsung Spin point (got a 500gb aaks installed but no power until I get everything working)
    Soundblaster Ausidy 4

    Now the issues:

It doesn't recognise any of the contents of a usb pen drive thing, no idea why as other PCs do
    It double boots from cold
I can only put the SATA emulation thing to IDE, any other setting it doesn't boot even though Ive installed the chipset drivers

Anyone got any ideas, its really doing my head it, thanks in advance

If you're using XP then you need to install drivers for USB and also for SATA.

Double Boot issue is a known problem that affects some people. Have you tried updating the BIOS?

    Re: IP35 Dark Raider

In device manager it says the sata devices are working fine, like there are no question marks? Where can I get the sata drivers from anywhere specific or just a google + microsoft job?

I have SP2 so I thought the usb ports would work fine, theres no question mark, I have uninstalled them, going to reboot and give it a try.

    Further development:

When accessing large files of the usb drive, i.e. Sound blaster drivers, its crashes and then fails to recognize the contents of the drive.
Then it requires uninstalling then reinstalling (of the usb drive) for it to work again.

    Any ideas?

    Re: IP35 Dark Raider

All I can say is that my USB ports on my old system didn't work properly under XP until I installed the chipset drivers on the included disk. AHCI needs Intel's matrix drivers I believe.

    Re: IP35 Dark Raider

several problems actually looks like one problem to me: the USB problem
SATA should be set to IDE - you aren't running RAID are you?
Dual boot is well documented and isn't a "problem" at all

    Re: IP35 Dark Raider

I thought the SATA should be AHCI, and the USB problem is the only one I really can't fingure out. Im going to reinstall now with F6, and flash the BIOS to the latest, to see if that helps, if not this is going to have to wait till after exams

    Re: IP35 Dark Raider

Actually there has been some debate about AHCI. Whether it gains anything or not over SATA. Maybe it does, but it's clearly quite flakey.

I haven't used this board with XP, but other boards needed the full set of chipset drivers for USB to work properly. I don't see that you have installed these drivers.

    Re: IP35 Dark Raider

Ok, I flashed the BIOS and solved the known cold double boot problem
Then re-installed XP with the F6 AHCI drivers, so thats fixed.

Ive installed the chipset drivers, and it hasn't fixed the USB problem, any ideas what else it could be?

Do all your USB ports suffer from the problem? What are your USB settings in the BIOS?
