Abit AN-M2 system won't power up.

    Hi,

I have bought a load of new components to build my own system:

    Abit AN-M2 mobo
    AMD 4800+ CPU
    Gigabyte CPU fan
    Corsair 550W PSU
    Corsair 2x1024 6400C XMS2 DDR2 memory

Sinc eputting the components altogether, when I try to power on the system i get nothing, no power whatsoever. There are 2 LED's on the mobo - one saying VCC (power to the system), and the other syaing V5SB (power is being supplied by the PSU). The V5SB LED comes on once power is connected to the PSU. The VCC LED does not light up at all. When I press the start button on the front of the case, nothing happens.

I have tried powering up with just the barebones - PSU, CPU and fan, mobo and 1 stick of memory but still nothing.

i have tried another PSU with this, and exactly the same happens - only 1 LED and no power. Is this a faulty mobo?

I look forward to your replies as i am a newbie to these forums.

    Thanks,
    Shaun.

are you sure that you have all the cables connected properly (both power & switches) to the mobo?

    Thanks for the prompt reply.

I have checked the 24-pin conector and the ATX12V connector (4-pin on the mobo so I have to split the 8-pin on the PSU cable). I have also checked all the other connectors 2 or 3 times over including the CMOS jumper, case connections (is this what you mean by 'switches'?) and still no luck.

    Thanks,
    Shaun.

    yes, power & reset switches.
Is this installed in a case or is it built outside to test?
