Question XP boot problem - IP35PRO

    Hello,

Sorry if this has been covered before, I've searched but can't find an answer.

I'm trying to install XP Pro 32bit as a second operating system. I already have Vista x64 installed.

I have created a new partition on my existing Vista boot drive and want to install XP there.

I boot from the XP disk and run through the initial install, doing the F6 install additional drivers thing.

The first reboot fails; no error message, nothing.

My system specs are in the 'My System' bit on the left.

I plan to use VistaBoot Pro after the XP install to allow dual booting.

    Cheers.

Make sure you take a backup of anything important on your PC before trying it, however this may help you find the problem

& of course unless you want to run AHCI or RAID you don't need to F6 drivers in the first place on XP.

Re: XP boot problem - IP35PRO

    Thanks for the links guys.

That's pretty much what I'm already doing. The problem is that XP won't/can't boot after the first installation stage.

I didn't realise that I didn't need the additional drivers (F6) with XP in IDE mode.

I seem to remember something a long while back about boot problems when you have all ram slots filled... Although I might have this confused with something else.

Yeah, pretty sure RAM voltage is set correctly. I haven't checked again since I installed Vista, but I'll check again tonight.
