    Ok, finally seem to have solved this.

    Wasnt bios settings, wasnt RAM voltages or timings, wasnt power, wasnt the motherboard.

    It was the CPU.

    RMAd it back to the supplier, who declared it faulty and sent me a new one, which seems to work perfectly, 3D Mark 05 ran to completion giving 15,329 as a result.
    New CPU even has a lower VID, 1.23v instead of 1.3v.
