Initial superio early init switch. Thats the problem.

    System specs: | Motherboard: Abit AB9 Quad GT | CPU: Intel Core 2 Duo E7200 | RAM: Corsair TWIN2X 2x 1GB DDR2 800MHz KIT | graphics card: Asus EN8600GT MAGIC | hard drive: Samsung Spinpoint F1 500GB SATA 3.0 Gb/s | power supply: Nexus NX-5000 POWER 500W retail |

I turn on the computer nothing comes on my screen. Post code is abovesaid 03 "initial superio early init switch".

Re: initial superio early init switch

are you sure that it isn't perhaps 8.3. (but with a faulty LED segment on the 8)?
03 is a very unusual code to get a hang on.

is this a new system or 1 that has been running for a while?
if the latter what (if anything) has changed recently?

Re: initial superio early init switch

I am sure that the error code is 03.
The whole package is new. I orderd it last month.
My friend told me that maybe the AB9 doesn't support the corsairs RAM. But i don't know.

Re: initial superio early init switch

should run with Corsair fine (would be nice if you could link the exact kit though as they make a lot of DDR2 800).

    So, this has never run?
Can you describe the exact sequence of LED codes when you switch on?

if this is a brand new out of the box AB9 QuadGT it's unlikely to have a BIOS that supports E7200 afaik though. You'll probably need to use another CPU to flash the BIOS.

Re: initial superio early init switch

I think Buff is right regarding the BIOS issue. I don't think a newly purchased board comes with a BIOS that supports 45nm.

Please drop an e-mail to support@u-abit.eu with your address and a link to this forum thread. We will send you a new chip with the latest BIOS installed.

Or, if you are able, install an older CPU and check if it boots so that you can flash the BIOS.

This whole pile of components is box fresh.
The exact sequence of LED codes are C1 C3 03 and that's all.
    E-mail sent.

Re: initial superio early init switch

    Hi.

I have the exact same problem with my Abit IN9 32X-MAX motherboard.
My CPU is a Intel Core 2 Duo E8400.

    Is this the same issue?

    Best regards

    The code sequence is A0 - C1 - C3 - 03 then it stops.

    The Specs:
    CPU: Intel Core 2 Duo E8400 3.0 Ghz FSB1333 6MB cache 45nm
    MB: Abit IN9 32X-MAX Wi-Fi, LGA 775
    HD: 500 GB SATA2 MAXTOR DIAMONDMAX 22 32MB 7200RPM
    Graphic: Asus EN8600GT Silent 512MB DDR3
    Ram: Kingston HyperX 2 x 2048MB DDR2 PC6400 800 Mhz

Re: initial superio early init switch

in that case then yes, it probably has the original BIOS on it which doesn't support 45nm CPUs.

Re: initial superio early init switch

    I'm sorry to hear that.

Then I have no chance of getting this system up and running.
I have no other CPU with this socket. So I can not flash the Bios with Version 14 of the Bios.

What CPU do I need then? One with 65nm?
