Re: Dodgy BIOS on an X38 QuadGT?

I am having the exact same problem. My computer was working fine for 6 months now and suddenly the past week it has been acting up.

When I boot up the computer the motherboard displays a code which is 9.0.
In the user manual the problem description says "Complete uGuru initial process AWARDBIOS take over booting job"

A few steps I tried to fix this:
Switching the CCMOS jumper from 1-2 position to 2-3 position for a minute, then changing back to 1-2
Removing power to my video card to see if any error beeps would go through my speakers, got nothing.
Switched off the power supply for 1 min and turning back on, repeated 3 times.

Occasionaly when I start the computer, the motherboard messages will cycle through until the 9.0. message, then it will auto turn off and restart on its own, back to the 9.0. message.

A couple things I notice is that the moniter doesnt display anything, it acts as if the computer was turned off, and no power is going to the keyboard or mouse.

Any help would be appreciated. Thanks
    Ryan

IIRC the one LVCoyote is hosting is newer than the build available via the abitshop.

E0 C2D's certainly are. Quads I couldn't comment on, but if the Duos work, there's no reason why the rest shouldn't.

I have another BIOS here that I might stick out if and when I get a minute, watch this space.

Awesome, just out of curiosity, are these abit bios that they never finished or others?

The one Lvc has appears to be a (near) final release candidate for the 15/16 BIOS that didn't go through final QA.

Although, there's a considerable amount of irony in that comment in as much as many of the BIOSes that Abit did officially release over the last couple of years were so buggy, if they were going through any sort of quality assurance process prior to signoff, it obviously wasn't working very effectively!

The one on Abitshop looks, on close examination, like an earlier build of the same BIOS.

The "other one" I was referring to is something I've been working on myself for a little while, trying to iron out issues I found on my own system and generally keep the BIOS as up to date as possible.

Anyone with a memory long enough to go back to the early days of the AB9 QuadGT (or, if they're *really* old, the 440BX/815 boards) will have an idea what to expect. It doesn't do anything earthshattering that the two files above don't, but should offer a bit more performance and reliability. No ETA tho - it'll be ready when I'm content for someone else to be let loose with it!

Re: Dodgy BIOS on an X38 QuadGT?

Shaitis: Yes, reviving an old thread, I know. But I'm going to run an Q9650 E0 in my Abit IX38 Quad GT, so I was wondering if you still got the latest BIOS, the one you've sent several other people in this thread AND that works with 4870X2 GFX cards?
