    Abit IP35P wont post

just got my new CPU and mobo (E5200 and IP35P). the problem is, it wont POST. there's a red led which lights up whenever i plug the PSU power cable to the wall socket, which means that the mobo is receiving power. Pressing the power button to turn the system on will make all fans spin. no beeps or anything, then just after few seconds, it will turn off by itself, and another 1-2 seconds, it will turn on again by itself and boom, fast and continuous short beeps.

i've tried powering it up outside the case with just the basic components installed and got same result.

also tried reseating every component just to make sure that they're all inserted properly.

    tried resetting the CMOS...

my PSU has both 4-pin and 8-pin (4+4-pin) 12v and i've already tried both of them.

im new to Intel platform, specially to Abit mobo. And now im lost...

What if my CPU is not supported? is this what should happen? i have seen some people with the same CPU and mobo and it seems to be supported. I dunno their BIOS version though. now another question, does this mobo support (officially or unofficially) E5200 out of the box? the box says it supports Pentium dual core, and 45nm wolfdale with 1333Mhz FSB. This is a Pentium dual core, and a wolfdale. but this aint the first pentium dual core which this mobo is referring to, nor the 45nm wolfdale with 1333Mhz FSB.

    thanks

Continuous short beeps indicates a PSU/cable/short problem. What power supply are you using, and have you checked the voltages with a multimeter, or does it work on another PC?

As smargh. A look round on hardware forums points to PSU. It's not isolated as an Abit problem.

Can you post complete system spec's to see what we can do to support you further.

    Re: Abit IP35P wont post

fixed it already. it's the memory modules (team xtreem dark) which were causing the problem. the system wont post at 1.8v vdimm so i tried using a normal RAM then set the voltage to 2.1v.

i just got confused because the beeps i heard were a lot different from the short beeps of my previous mobos. the beeps were fast...i mean, the intervals between the beeps were just like 0.2s (about 1 sec from my previous mobos).

and because of that new sounding beep code, i also tried googling it and like you, that's also what my friend google was telling me, that it's a power/psu problem.

anyway, thanks a lot for the replies guys=)

PS: about the other issue in my first post, is that what you call double boot?

    Top Tip:

If memory won't post at 1.8V and you don't have any "normal" memory to hand, a good workaround is to only install 1 stick of the 2.1V memory and then set the voltage to 2.1 and then add the other sticks.
