    ABIT IP35-E and E5200

    Hi All,

I just bought an E5200 to replace the E2140 I have had in my IP35-E for a while. I upgraded the BIOS to 18 and when I put in the E5200 it does some strange stuff. It boots but won’t go into windows, reboots after the windows loading screen. When I go right into BIOS after first installing the chip it shows the temp as 90 degrees Celsius, I have used both Kingston PC-5300 & G.SKILL PC-6400 with same effect. I am clearing out the bios right after checksum and letting the board auto configure it and it shows 2.5ghz, bus speed shows at 200mhz but no multiplier, when I try to auto-configure it will not show me a multiplier.

I can put my E2140 back in and everything works fine with my setup and shows me the proper multiplier and temp is a nice 38 degrees.

If I put the E5200 into another PC with an ECS G31T-M(1.0) LGA 775 the processor works fine (with the Kingston or G.Skill memory), shows the right 2.5ghz and the temperature runs at a 36 degrees Celsius with the same cooler. Everything runs great.

So it seems like it’s not a problem with the E5200 but the IP35-E.

I have seen people use this combo on the internet, any ideas why it’s not working on mine?

I would surmise that is your problem.
have you tried the EO beta here to see if that helps at all?
