Get the modded bios, it fixes half multipliers and the 98 degrees error - it helped me with E6300 and IP35,

Replace "DOT" with real "." (dots hehe) cause I'm too new to post URLs
To be honest the motherboard reporting 98C doesn't bother me too much. Turn off the alarm and set max CPU fan speed to 50% (I have a Scythe Infinity and am using the stock 12cm S-FLEX "F" fan) and I'm off to the races. In fact, I've managed 400*10 now, though I will try flashing to that new BIOS right about now. The only thing is my chip is an R0 stepping chip, not an M0 chip.

Check out id=934454 on That CPU-Z Validator. I don't like how high I have the voltages set, however. Anyways, will this modded BIOS work and allow me to adjust the more advanced/specific settings? I noticed them lacking before. I'm grabbing V-PC right now and the XP Mode thing from M$. I love 2-3mb/s download rates! Like 2 minutes to grab 500 megs. =)

Anyways, I'll upgrade the BIOS and report back. I'm quite happy that the IP35-E is allowing this Wolfdale to run; it saves me $75 on a new board, which is half a graphics card (I was thinking a Radeon HD 5750 or HD 5770). Funny thing is if I had $700, I MIGHT be able to fit a HD 5970 in this chassis; I measured 12.25" clearance which means that, with a file and some time, I would be able to sand off some of the plastic shroud. But I won't need to, since I don't have $700. And if I did have $700, I would NOT spend it on a single graphics card; I'd upgrade to a Core i5-750.

EDIT: 400*10.5 isn't working. Heat's not an issue but I am uncomfortable giving a wolfdale 1.55vcore. B'sides, 4GHz is fast enough I guess. I did get Intel-VT options, though, so I am happy about that.

    Re: Abit IP35-E and E6300 2.8Ghz

so this means that a pdc e6300 can run perfectly on a ip35-e with the ver 18 bios?

what a relief......(albeit the 98 c thing but that not really a big deal

Official 18 will not give you half multipliers and EIST. But, yes, otherwise E6300 works just fine.

    Re: Abit IP35-E and E6300 2.8Ghz

I don't know about all revisions of the board (I have Rev1.01) but yes, Official 18 doesn't give half-multipliers, EIST, OR Virtualization (I'm not sure about the last, but it wasn't reported on CPU-Z and wasn't an option in the BIOS).

I'd say just go ahead and flash to the modified BIOS. And the problems & solutions of course are shared between IP35 and IP35-E.

    Re: Abit IP35-E and E6300 2.8Ghz

    Here's a better question...

I have the E6300 running still on my IP35-E (3800MHz=400*9.5), but is there a beta that DOES support Virtualization? It's reported correctly thru CPU-Z (Instructions: MMX, SSE(1,2,3,3S),EM64T,VT-x) but I don't think hardware Virtualization is working; Windows 7 Pro's XP Mode refuses to work. I'm trying it again but *shrug*.

XP mode doesnt require hardware virtualisation to work anymore, it has been updated.
