    an32x post code 9.0.

Hi, my an32x started posting with code 9.0. this morning and will not boot. mobo is about 3 yrs old and has been working fine up to now. Does anyone have any suggestions as to what might be the problem or know whether its mobo or cpu related? thanks Lee

9.0. is usually either power related (inadequate/failing PSU, short etc.) or BIOS related (corrupt, unsupported CPU etc.)

    Re: an32x post code 9.0.

Hi. Power supply is a new 500W power supply that has been installed for 2 months so pretty sure its not that. Is there anyway I can reflash the bios or does the 9.0. mean its not getting far enough to do that? thanks

Usually that means your BIOS is corrupt. You need a new preprogrammed BIOS chip to replace that one.

hi artbio- thanks for the update. is that something i can reflash myself or do i need to replace chip on board? i know that under normal conditions i could flash the bios, but as the machine doesn't post doesn't seem as though this is possible...

No you can't flash your mobo. You need to get a new preprogrammed BIOS chip from Abit. Is the mobo still in warranty?

no, mobo is 3 years old - sounds like buying a new one may be best option...

you can buy a preprogrammed BIOS chip (it's easily user replaceable) for something like £15.
However, if it isn't the BIOS that's the problem it won't do any good - you haven't really convinced me yet that it couldn't potentially be power related ... .

    Re: an32x post code 9.0.

I have the same problem - 9.0 code appearing without any hardware changes. Motherboard is AB9 Pro.

Having browser the net, the problems may be: motherboard, bios, PSU, memory (?). I tried to run bare-bone system and it seems to work properly (i.e. post codes go through a boot sequence ending with 7F) when I have everything but graphics adapter connected. When I connect the graphics adapter it gives 9.0 in around 2 secs from power-up.

PSU: The problem seems to occur even when hdd & dvd are not plugged in while the system works with them plugged in without the graphics adapter. I think its probably not the PSU. (350W Nexus)
Memory: Definitely not the problem, it seems.

Graphics adapter: Might be this, right? Its nvidia 8600GT, no visible sign of problems, fan is working normally
Bios: Well, cannot rule out problem with Bios can you?
Motherboard: Might be MB problem, but there is no visible problems and it boots "normally" without the graphics adapter.

I'm probably buying a new graphics adapter first (8600GT is becoming ancient) but I am not very optimistic it will solve my problems. What do you think should I do?

    Best,
    Henri

    Re: an32x post code 9.0.

And I bought a new graphics adapter and everything works fine.

Conclusion: You get post code 9.0 and system freezing also when you graphics card dies.
