Re: Abit IX38 QuadGT Bios Update?

    Uhm no I don't know...

The Abit support team has sent me this version and said it was the last bios available for this board.
Filename is "m704b_15.bin" and it was inside a rar file: "IX38 QuadGT15.rar". I didn't rename anything...
When I check CPU-Z it states that the BIOS build date is: "25/11/2008 (dd/mm/yyyy)".

I think the "m704b_16.bin" is an unofficial user-edited BIOS for this board but my version is made
by Abit programmers because I got the mail and attachment from: support@u-abit.eu

Make sure your PC does NOT lose power when flashing BIOS => corrupt motherboard
=> will never boot again :-D
No problem with this, just never flashed beta from abit without this files wich usually comes in legal download of bioses from abit site.

iirc the 16 came from abit via an IX38 user who got it from them.
    I wouldn't be at all surprised if 15b4 & 16 are 1 & the same .

You mean abit.com.tw ? That site is seriously out-of-date as Abit has stopped making
motherboards and doesn't refresh/update/post the new BIOSes there...

I'm even wondering whether they've updated the site since they stopped manufacturing
That's why this forum exists, to still provide some kind of support for Abit users like us.

You don't have to be scared that I would have published a corrupt BIOS and updating with this
file would result in a complete motherboard failure, because that's just not true. I'm using this
BIOS myself at the moment. How could I ever get the build date out of CPU-Z if I were not...?

    Greetz and enjoy the BIOS

@ BUFF : Could you please verify the "x_16.bin" BIOS build date (using CPU-Z)

Re: Abit IX38 QuadGT Bios Update?

don't have an IX38 so can't give you the build date via CPU-Z but we've had it posted for months @ theraptorpit unofficial abit support section (a lot of the former abit forum moderators like me hang out there) & had no complaints.

Re: Abit IX38 QuadGT Bios Update?

No help for my Q9550 E0 even with this 15 revision of BIOS update...stil µGuru panel shows wrong clock when using 8.5 (default) multiplier, and temperatures are 47°C in idle.

Mmmh, I'm sorry to hear that. With my Xeon X3370 (= Q9650 E0) the mobo reports some odd temps too. My CPU is like 39°C while my cores are at 28/28/34/33°C but well... I don't get any annoying warning signal anymore (before my CPU was constant @ 103°C) and the FanEQ Control works way better now etc etc. Didn't stress stability improvements yet since I've still mayor CPU Vcore drops (like 100mV).

I will try a Vdroop mod from Johhny Bravo after all my exams are over, will report back whether it worked or not.. I can post the mods for this mobo if anyone interested... Just let me know ;-)

Re: Abit IX38 QuadGT Bios Update?

I have 15 days QX9650 and it works just fine with beta bios for E0, here is temperatures in full load:

And now this Q9550 E0 is totally crazy with temperatures in load:

Maybe this 16 version of bios helps?

You could try... Please let me know whether it worked :-)

EDIT: This motherboard has still major disadvantages even when flashed to the last BIOS.
    Since I've an X3370 (333 x 9 default) you'd suppose that I could set the multiplier to 8,5x
manually, but I can't. This board seems to not have the ability to use x.5 multipliers, Am I
right? Could be wrong but depending on my experience with this board ?

@ Dizel could you set an x.5x MP when using your QX9650 ?

Re: Abit IX38 QuadGT Bios Update?

I did not try half multipliers with QX9650 because this processor has unlocked multi from 6 to 31...and there was no need for half multi. But processor works perfectly with BIOS 14(E0 beta from this forum), and temperatues was right shown.

    Now:

Flashed this beta 16 from Raptor Pit...this beta is _OLDER_ then Bios 15 which Infected linked here, relese date of this beta 16 is 04.11.2008, and release date of bios 15 is 25.11.2008.

Ofcourse, no solution for Q9550 E0 (temperatures and multiplier issues)...

Ok thanks for giving the BIOS 16 build date. Now I can be sure that I'm using the lastest official
BIOS available for this motherboard. You can download the lastest official BIOS HERE.

    Nice ! I'm running 400 x 9 = 3,6 GHz now @ 1,25V actual (1,30 in BIOS)
my CPU once again is an X3370 E0 with a VID of 1,25V. My PC runs very
very quiet now, like that very much but I'm waiting for the exams to be
over so I can do a Vdrop mod and see if it works :-) Will keep you posted :-)

    P.S. I want that 4x 4GHz stable

    Nope doesn't help :-(
Even with CPU VTT to 1,35 V
and MCH volt to 1,75 V (active cooling)
    I don't get 4 GHz stable :-S

Just that f****** Vdroop is causing the unstability...
