    abit an9 32x fatality - uguru problem

I have a problem with the uguru in windows XP as setting the software up causes my machine to restart.
On further investigation I have found this in the uguru resources tab in device manager.
    Input/Output Range 00E0 - 00EF used by:
    Motherboard resources

Yet in Motherboard resources it has this:
    Input/Output Range 00E0 - 00EF used by:
    uGuru Micro-Processor

I have reinstalled drivers, cleared cmos, reinstalled OS, flashed bios back to original release yet this problem still exists.
    Any ideas??
Is this related to my other post regarding the lan??

Is there anything I can do to resolve this myself or is this a hardware fault on the board??

Sounds more and more like a hardware fault.

I have had this board for one day and it will not go past error 90 - found out a lot of people have this and there is no cure for it.
Have done clear cmos before starting first boot- clear cmos with leads of and battery etc etc.
read on abit to switch power on and of 3 time to reset guru chip how do you do that? use the power on off sw.
If it ever runs what hppens when I start to add things to it - YIPES.
Spent over athousand pounds on this thing and looks like I'm going back to ASUS.
Abit won't even answer their tech line -

How much harm am I doing keep resetting the cmos - seems futile to me and WHY do we have to do it.
Have been building compts since the Speccy days and needed a deenct one for the new fltsim FSX.
Well it looks like this won't do it and it may take aflight out of the window back to ABIT.
    Very bad after service

Sean, I'm going to install the o/s again on a brand new hard drive to see if it does the same.
If it does am I better off rma'ing the board.

I'm sorry to hear that you are having problems with your motherboard. I don't know why you were unable to reach abit by phone?

If you have ruled out the posibilty of a faulty CPU or PSU and you believe the motherboard to be at fault, then contact the company you purchased the board from and ask for a refund or replacement.

I have installed XP on a new drive which has never had an O/S installed and the problem exists:
    Input/Output Range 00E0 - 00EF used by:
    Motherboard resources

Yet in Motherboard resources it has this:
    Input/Output Range 00E0 - 00EF used by:
    uGuru Micro-Processor

I will also mention the lan which continues to drop the connection as I have had no reply to that thread.

Didn't want to post this here Sean but I still haven't received the cost of postage when I returned my original board which was recalled - I have lost your email addy again in the course of trying to get this pc working.
Is this the point where I RMA this board or to ask for a refund as this will be the second time I will have dismantled the pc to return the board.

Sean, I am still having problems with the motherboard and with getting my refund for the cost of returning my original motherboard back to you.
You haven't replied to my last PM's so I'll post them here from now on.

    1) Sean, I still haven't received my refund for returning the motherboard.
Sean I have also purchased some corsair EPP enabled memory, can you confirm how EPP works i.e. does the bios set the EPP memory timings and voltage.

    2) Sean I have been thinking about this issue some more, I don't think I mentioned that I am running a raid setup.
My C drive is a striped set of 2 250GB drives
    Then I have 2 backup drives D is 2 x 250GB and E 2 x 80 GB drives which are mirrored.
All drives are western digital sata 2.

I have had a few problems where one of the primary drives is not detected but after a restart or three while setting the ocz mem voltage to 2.2 it is ok.
When the pc crashes after trying to setup uguru with the ocz I have to leave the pc for approx 20 - 30 seconds or it won't boot, then I found the bios has been reset.
    Is this possibly the problem??
I have a spare 80GB HD, is it worth while installing XP on the single drive running off the sata port to see if I can run the memory at it's rated speed without any freezes and being able to setup the uguru software??

    3) I've just purchased 2GB Corsair XMS2 6400 c4 4-4-4-12@2.1v, Corsair verify this runs on this mobo.
It boots at 1.85 v at 5-5-5-18 runs fine no probs with oc guru.
I increase voltage to 2.1v I get occasional freezing, and it is hit or miss if uguru will allow me to make changes to fan eq.
Change the timings down to 4-4-4-12 @ 2.1v will not post and get c1 error.
It will boot at 4-4-4-18@2.1v but using oc guru causes it to crash as with the OCZ memory.
I am going to run memtest on this memory to make sure it is ok, but it is strange that I cannot run 2 different types of ram at their rated speed at 2.1v with this board.

Sean I have tried using the new bios 1.3, I've reflashed back to 1.2 as I am unable to use the memory at 2.1v as the temp settings in uguru bios go all to pot showing temp settings of 255c or f so when I boot into windows uguru sees a big problem and shuts down.
This is with the corsair EPP memory.

With 1.2 bios I STILL HAVE THESE PROBLEMS.
I cannot change the uguru settings with this memory at 2.1v and running at EPP timings - I can at 1.8v and timings.
I get occasional freezes mainly on startup.
I cannot use the top lan as it drops the lan connection, sometimes occasionly or can be frequant - same cable as I am using on the bootom lan.
I am using nvidia driver from your website and also uguru software off the disc.
I am aware you said you tested this board with ocz memory and none of the issues I am having showed up Sean so if I am doing something wrong I would appreciate your advice.Did you test on a raid setup ??
All screws used to mount motherboard are centred correctly and are in holes with silver around them. I am not overclocking.
I have purchased Corsair memory thinking there may have been a problem with the ocz memory. If I need to buy a different motherboard from another manufacturer to prove the problem is with the board then I will do that.
I am at this moment regretting buying this board.
