    Painting My PSU void warrenty?

I know this is probably a dumb question but I just got the HCP-1200 and im not a fan of the dark blue. If i were to just paint the top and sides without taking it apart and not getting paint on the inside would it void my warranty?

Sorry again if my question is obv. LOL..

    Thanks

He's prolly doing it to theme it to his case / casemods , doing so u would think it would void the warranty, maybe theres some info in the small print that comes with the PSUs manual/warranty card.

Exactly the reason im wanting to paint it... I got a sick ass black with white accents theme going on and this blue PSU just throws it right off.. Ill give the manual a gander... Was hoping someone might know by experience...

    Thanks tho!

Unfortunately I reckon it probably will. You might be better sending Antec an email for a faster response. If the say it's OK, I'd keep a copy of the email.

I doubt there's an absolute answer to that. It shouldn't (IMHO, of course) void the warranty, unless having done so in some way contributed to the cause of whatever failed, such as preventing cooling, or dripping a conductive paint on an electrical component, etc. But it might open up a dispute about whether it caused the failure or not.

You could cover it with coloured perspex/vinyl as an alternative, making sure there's adequate ventilation of course.

What paint are you using? What ever paint you use make sure it can stand the temperature which the PSU will reach

A decent power supply shouldn't get hot enough to be a concern really, unless it's the sole extraction fan on a high-end PC.

    Hi criskoe,

Saracen is right about this. For warranty purposes your best bet is to leave it as is. If your power supply should become defective it will be hard to determine if the paint caused the defect or a fault within the unit itself.
