    melting macbook lead

if the title doesnt give it away... the power lead for my mackbook has melted down near the transformer... i dont have any photos at the moment but i will try and get some posted tonight,

has anyone else had this problem? i contacted the only mac service provider in Northern Ireland, and asked them would it be covered by my Apple Care warranty, he said it might be, he would have to see the cable, if it wont be covered then it will cost about £80 for a replacement...

    Hi,

Looks like Apple know about this problem. I will be covered under the warranty. See link below!

Apple laptop power supplies have always been a joke. I've certainly heard of (and seen) them melting at the magsafe connector end.

    Re: melting macbook lead

It's funny you say that. Outta the 6 we have at work we've only replaced 1 of them and they are over 4 years old.

Not had a any problems with the Macbook or Macbook Pros. (4 Macbooks 3 MBP's)

It's worth bearing in mind that the cells in the batteries are supplied by Sony, who also supplied the cells in the exploding Dell batteries. Acer also issued a battery recall of batteries with Sony cells in them and I think some other manufactures did too.

My sentiments exactly! Where do these people get off telling you that it "might" be covered. Ignorant telephone support!

hmmmm my own lead just melted, which was about the sweetest thing (i hate rossetta soo much). i am going to my nearest apple store in order to rant to a 'genius' infront of prospective apple customers. why would you release a product that melted with use!!?? however it would appear apple used to have problems with melting mainboards, you would think they had learnt their lesson
