I'm currently giving Unison a go. Can anyone recommend another - it has to do NZBs so thunderbird is out?

if you're lucky enough to be running parrallels without problems (the killer filesystem one), give NZBPlayer a try.

I don't use Parrallels. I was hoping for something which is native OSX rather than Windows....
