Apple Black Friday - More info, post your bargains in here!

What's a Black Friday you ask? Well, it's an American thing - over in the States, the first Friday after Thanksgiving is labelled Black Friday to herald the start of the Christmas shopping season.

To mark the occasion, numerous stores run one-day mega-sales to which punters flock in massive numbers. Here in the UK, we hear little about it, and this year we'll be left begrudging the event as our pound grows weaker by the day and Brown's VAT reductions offer little hope.

    nice clicky image for you:

I might be tempted by Apple TV, see my post here:
    http://forums.hexus.net/small-form-f...t-content.html

but it'd have to drop to well under £150 from it's current £199, which frankly i can't see happening.

I wonder if it'll be their usual 99p off type of sale?

As far as I can see the discounts are about 3 to 7% depending on what you're looking at. The best I found was £11 off the smallest capacity iPod touch. I was after a 16gb iPod nano but it's still significantly cheaper at amazon (£144 vs. £137) so I don't think I'll personally be making any purchases.

Considering the obvious price premium for shopping at the apple store what are the advantages you're getting? Other than the free engraving. Which I really don't want (the iPod is for me so I don't really need to write myself a message).

Errr where???? I don't see any bargains and it would seem many people agree.

i paid £82 for my 4th Gen 8GB iPod Nano, that's a bargain. I paid £75 for a refurb iPod video ages ago, that was a bargain at the time. £5 off a Nano today when the price should be coming down by £2 next week anyway is not what most would call a bargain or even much of sale in these hard times.

So the next game to be played is who's willing to take bets on Apple reducing their prices next week due to the VAT reduction. Or is it more likely that they'll just pocket the extra?
