    Black Screen Of Death

I have a Santa Rose 2.2GHz Laptop that has finally given me the black screen and no way to get any signal from the machine (even using DVI monitor). Common issue with the M8600GT as im sure you will have heard.
Thing is i have a lot of data on there which i need to get off. I know i can do the whole booting up via firewire to get a lot of my data off however there is some stuff (passwords and such) which i could do with getting off and clearing before i take it in on my applecare to get repaired. Dont want any prying eyes going through my various user accounts.

Is there any way i can take control using another mac over ethernet or firewire?

If it's on Leopard you might be able to screen share to the machine (assuming you had it enabled). I don't know if there's a terminal command to let you enable screen sharing. I'd imagine there is but don't ask me what hehe

    Re: Black Screen Of Death

What im going to do is use my PC to make an image of the drive then wipe it before i give it in to the applestore. Iv checked with them and they said this is ok.

I have a copy of macdrive on my pc but which image format do you think i should use? iso/bin/daa etc?
