    Powerbook G4 Alumiunium HDD Replacement

    Hey guys,

I'm just wondering if anybody has had any experience repairing mac powerbooks.

I have a powerbook g4 model number a1010 aluminium case (I believe 867mhz with 256 ram) and am looking to replace the 60gb ide hdd with something bigger. From what I can make out the maximum partition size is 128gb but you can use bigger drives and have multiple partitions, can anyone confirm this. Also does the controller on the board have a maximum capacity of drive?

    Cheers,

    Joel

A word of advice: keep your screws tidy and in order. There are so many in that machine that it's easy to lose track of them. You may also find that some of the connectors to the top case are very delicate, so if possible just leave the ones you can in place and "hinge" the top case sideways so you can get at the hard drive underneath
