    PC & Mac Comparison/Contrast?

I have a speech I have to do on basically mac vs pc. My teacher is obsessed with macs, she has atleast 10 in her room, every new mac there is. I am going to roll out the Macintosh flaming video with the guy throwing the mac around, yup gonna be on the projector . So I also need real facts to go along with this. I have a few down, but I need more. Anyone have any information or any links judging each one? All help would be much appreciated, report is due in 2 days >.< Thanx.

hmm? high hardware failure rates, extremely high cost of repairs & spare parts, lack of upgrade potential, high cost of everything else, crippling design flaws

though you can right click in 99% of mac apps using any non-apple mouse (or command-click to simulate right click)

tbh a mac is fine as a computer, it just makes for a crap hobby

examine how you use a computer. look at the tasks you accomplish, not the apps you use. i run a linux system these days so i gain the stability & ease of not-windows, but keep the hobbyist aspect of modding, upgrades, customisation, etc

    You can't mod? www.applefriter.com
    you can't customise? www.resexcellence.com
    you can't upgrade? www.xlr8yourmac.com
Add to the fact that they are stable, have less security holes, don't run windows software (equally valid for linux). They are easier to set up, as nearly all hardware comes from the same manufacturer and so is pre-confingured in the os, overall cost of ownership is lower, the hardware itself will generally be able to be used for longer, easier to maintain andjust as good, if not better than off-the-shelf computers to look at.

The iPod does not count as a mac, neither does the Newt, the Pippin, the PowerCD or the Lisa.

How is overall cost of ownership lower?

They are more expensive to buy, and service-pack style upgrades cost you money.

Can't see how that makes them cheaper to own.

Edit: I think Hex considers upgrading to be swapping CPUs when the current one gets a bit slow, not putting an overdrive style upgrade into it.

i consider upgrading the ability to never buy a new pc in 10 years, simply replacing bit by bit

Do you want a PC/Mac comparison or a Windows/Mac comparison?

the thing to remember here is that the comparison isn't with a home build, but with the likes of Compaq, Dell & other off-the-shelf PC's.
