23" Apple Displays - any one here own one?

Any one here own the new Alu display? I'm in the process of saving up for this baby. I was given £100 as a gift today and that will get me there faster!...

Would love feed back from people that own this - just tell me what you think of it etc...

I just ordered one to go with a Dual 2.5Ghz G5

It should get here in about 5-7 weeks

Thanks ibm... Mine will take some time, probably 7 months or so maybe a bit longer...April/May next year sounds about right My savings for this is currently around £180 + £160ish... and a little bit here and there....still not enuff

That looks nice, but the Apple looks nicer. I love it how apple puts all the controls @ hand but not so that they stare at you right in the face. The sony would have looked 'nicer' if them buttons were not where they are...is it me or is it curved? Probably just the perspective...that curvature is less on the pics of the 23" Apple display....hrm!

I have seen this display at the AppleStore in Singapore and I was drooling over it... but didn't have too much time to play with it:



That little girl could fit inside it easy...I decided not to get it as it would have been difficult for me to transport across and decided on the pbook instead (which has been a great decision considering that I've been travelling a lot in the past 2 months.)

I agree that the Apple displays look nicer. The surround on my display is only plastic for example. The Sony display can be had a fair bit cheaper - and you can't often say that about Sony products. I guess it's another example of the premium that Apple charges for it's products. Especially as - in this case - I suspect Apple are probably making and selling more than Sony are! Not to mention the fact that the actual LCD panels are probably all made by Samsung.

On a side note - my monitor was bought for me by work - if it was my cash I'd have gone for 2 x smaller displays and saved a large chunk of cash (2 x 19" displays would offer more real estate but still cost less - 2 x 17" wouldn't be much different and would be MUCH cheaper). Could have spent the extra cash on a nice GFX card with dual DVI outputs!

Yea, I've got 2x 173T samsung's at home...some how a single display is nicer me thinks....specially when watching DVDs etc....

*edit*: here in the UK there is an offer to students, 10% for 10months - 0% interest and I'm seriously thinking of taking this up. Then sell off my 173T here on Hexus and sell the second one later on. How much you figure these would be worth? At least £180 + p&p each?

a) second one is @ home in Sri Lanka and I can pick it up in December when I go back for christmas hols...this is cost price of (USD500 / 1.8) * (2/3) second hand value.

What model is that and what res does it do? I'm getting too used to the Iiyama 481 at work and my UXGA laptop tft and my Sony 19" CRT is looking a leetle bit fuzzy, but I need 1600x1200 min resolution.

...though ebuyer's spec is actually wrong - the native res is 1920 x 1200 (the product spec page is right - the title and overview are wrong).

tbh am not impressed with the appel screen, the 1y warantee kinda takes the p***.
