Memory compatibility for a G5 - Help!

Hello guys!

As per my thread on my new-soon-to-arrive G5, I was thinking that it would be nice if us Mac peeps had somewhere to check for compatible ram. Technically all ram should be compatible but I've heard that some ram's SPD conflicts with G5's and such etc.

So - I'm looking for 2x512 match sticks of ram, what brand should I go for?

• Crucial - about £65 a stick
• Corsair - cost a bomb?
• TwinMax?

Anything else?

G5's are extremely picky about RAM, even moreso than OS X is usually. Apple is, as always with RAM, a ripoff. I would say get Crucial, as they seem to be the most consistently compatible stuff, I have yet to hear reports of them not working properly.

mmm crucial will take it back if you use their compatibilty checker and order direct > worth a go?

I got some ram from Crucial for my brothers Mac and it has been fine. I'd recommend them too.

As has been said, the guaranteed compatability from Crucial makes it a no-brainer

Late post, but yeah, crucial all the way, guaranteed to function perfectly taking all the worry out of the decision
