    the question is, how many of those are you actually using?

    What, just 20 apps? I can quite easily rock up 40+ on my development machine at work. Even now I've got probably 20 apps open and god-knows how many utilities such as K9, MBM, BestCrypt, Virtual Daemon running....

    Well have 16 up at the moment, but that includes TV, radio and a game.

    Before you ask the games Eve online not solitare. So yepp multitasking with games too, not bad. Could probably run some more stuff but calculator and winamp dont rally count.

    I use all of them, else I tend to close the apps - that's how I work

    Using 420MB of swap here... and WOW!... I would say the #1 factor limiting me is RAM. Got 768MB inside this here pbook and I find that OS X reserves around 200MB and uses the swap instead - which makes it a bit laggy at times...Since my new G5 is arriving I'll be able to 'shift' some of my tasks to it such as bit-torrent, IRC etc etc.

    Thanks for the input guys

    EVE runs on macs?????????????
    Had I the heavens' embroidered cloths,
    Enwrought with golden and silver light,
    The blue and the dim and the dark cloths
    Of night and light and the half-light,
    I would spread the cloths under your feet:
    But I, being poor, have only my dreams;
    I have spread my dreams under your feet;
    Tread softly, because you tread on my dreams.
