    Sooooo....

Who's going to be upgrading to Tiger then?

Pre-order available now, shipping on the 29th onwards, usual price of £89.

I'm still in two minds about it (partially as I was told that I would qualify for the cheapy up-to-date discounted rate, but now it turns out that I'm not.. Hello! I've not had my ibook much more than a month or so!).

I know I won't be able to take full advantage or the core graphics system with the 32mb rad 9200 in my ibook, but a 1.25GHz G4 with 1 & 1/4GB RAM, 80GB HDD should be able to handle the majority of it, shouldn't it?

I think I will. With every release X gets a bit faster and more intuitive, and the developer version of Tiger I used was very good. I particularly liked the Dashboard bits, as it seemed very easy to code for. Spotlight was also good, although not as fast as they made out, but things like Automator might also be very handy.

I will, but I'll decide how to upgrade later

I'm in the US on the 28th April, so could pick it up over there.......
or.... instead of spending £90 on an Upgrade, I could just buy a mac mini and use that DVD to upgrade my powerbook.

I was thinking about doing something similar actually, then I realised I don't actually need another computer cluttering up the place lol

I'd certainly take a slice of that action

A bit undecisive at the minute - I remember the tales of woe about the first versions of Panther and Jaguar - so, methinks, I might wait and see how people get on before shelling out.

Oh, and I don't think Tiger will run on my Beige G3 233

I did the same last year when I blagged a Panther upgrade.

Basically, you put your serial number into the system, and the purchase date.

I bought it in Sept, but the offer was for Oct 14th onwards, so I just entered Oct 15th as the purchase date. kerching, it arrived the week later.

Try it Stu, it's worth a go.

I'm gonna upgrade but not straight away, probably wait till the beginning of June. Kinda wish I bought my PB on the interweb instead of getting it from the Apple Store in London but then again I wouldn't have been able to experience dual 30's
