They're being conservative with battery life estimates these days, remember how much that cost them last year...

My shuffle happily went for far longer than the 12 hours they advertised, and I expect this will do likewise.

I'm not going to be upgrading my phone 'til the new year, so this'll do me fine until then

I love the way he compared a 4GB (at most) nano with the 20GB Sony and came to the conclusion that it was "OMG SMALLER".

What makes me angry, is that when the battery conks out after a few month, as it sounds like it will, apple will charge you £83 whereas the americans pay $59! Disgusting.

Hmm, mixed responses, interesting. I think it is quite impressive how thin they've made it, and I'm sure quite a few people are going to be buying the black ones. I'm quite tempted to buy a black one for my Mom to use in her new car, which happens to be black!

tbh it's nothing that great, it's over-priced, and under featured, so what if it's flash based, there are other HD mp3 players out there which far out-strip it's battery-life and aren't that different size-wise..

They needed to have dropped the price right down, and have killer battery life for it to have been a must-have purchase..

wow! and I have a zen micro...and i thought that was tiny [jaws drop] I must say, i do like the improved interface on iTunes...the more brushed metal that gets dropped from our screens, the better. And as for the Motorola iTunes phone...yeah, its ok, but they could have at least put 1GB in it though, but I expect there will be larger models to follow.

Can't they fit a Microdrive into a package that size? 4Gb seems a bit low for maximum capacity given that an 8Gb microdrive is on the horizon...

Take everything you love about iPod and shrink it. Now shrink it again.
How about they 'shrink' the bloody price? 2Gb at $200? I'm assuming that's the price as it says 'starting from $200'. Bargain. I think we picked up a 6Gb Ipod mini for $180 in NYC.

This will look silly as soon as decently engineered hard disc based players using perpendicular technology start to appear, I would think.

As hexeh says - still no ogg support, so it won't see my money either.

    no wma support either

the phone is a good idea, but a bit naff - its not there yet basically - it only supports 100 tracks regardless of mem size, and theres no real multimedia controls jumping out at me.

Well-bloody-said mate. I will stick to my K750i phone. Ok, so it only supports MP3 (i.e no gappless playback which really really bugs me) but it was free!

By the way, if it's 'Impossibly Small' how do they make it? Magic pixies

Got my black 4gig nano this evening, and god its small. I knew it was going to be, but it really surprised me. Playback matchs other apple models, not sure about battery yet, but im hoping for 10+ as a minimum. My 4th gen 20g only managed 7-8hrs. Colour screen is well lit and crisp. Im a tech wh0re so in my opinion the bloody thing rocks!! , and will be perfect for the gym / running.
