    Safari vs Firefox.

Does anyone else notice a MASSIVE performance difference between Safari and Firefox?
I'm using a Mac Mini (1Gb RAM) and Safari is orders of magnitude faster than FF - faster with rendering and general browsing, i've noticed that if FF is opened but not running i.e. it is present in the dock and i am using Safari, the overall performance is lowered too...

    Anyone else get this?

    Cheers

    Dan.

KHTML (from KDE on Linux), Safari's engine, is considerably more lightweight than a full Gecko app like firefox.

Try Camino - same Gecko renderer, but more of a native mac app, and should run faster

I've just realised Safari has tabbed browsing!

Camino is just a bit faster, though...

How do you get tabbed browsing on Safari I can't see the option anywhere?

well click on any link with applekey and it opens in a new tab - think you have to enable it in preferences

type new URL in address bar and click applekey and enter together you get that new URL in a tab

oh and clicking on the back button in safari with applekey pressed gets you the previous page but in a new tab

Tabbed browsing is available in Safari from Panther (10.3) upwards I think, but I'm not sure.

I use Safari as my main browser, then Mozilla or Opera. I find that Safari is usually by far the quickest, and renders most sites perfectly (apart from Easyjet, which is very annoying as I fly a bit to and from Uni). I can't say I use tabs at all, really. I find with Expose I just open everything in new windows, and that way can switch back and forth just as easily.
