    wiping ibook for sale

    hi all, hoping for a little apple flavoured advice - I have a G4 ibook which i am going to sell on ebay - whats the best way to remove all my data/apps - deleting or via a clean install of tiger (i have the discs) or some other method?

    any advice much appreciated

    you should probably look towards a piece of commercial grade wiping software if there are data concerns dban for ppc should be fine for thishttp://dban.sourceforge.net/ppc.html

    1. Do a fresh install of OSX.
    2. Use "Disk Manager" to write ZEROs over the blank space.

    You can decide how many times to overwrite the free space etc.

    This will pretty much ensure that it's all clean with no chance of recovery.

    If you wanted to be over the top, you could reinstall, zero, reinstall, zero a number of times, but once is probably sufficient.

    OK, i have the same problem.. but i dont have the disks nor do i want to spend money getting some. Data protection isnt an issue as im passing the computer on to another member of the family. but the computer has to be fresh. if you know what i mean..
