yup , i am a big fan of the honda engines esp the VTECH's
they now even use it in the new honda VFR bike in 800cc form ,proberly because of its lazy pull until a fairly high rpm , when it bursts into life , kinda reminds me of my rs 125 (2 stroke)

my veedub is a 12v
shrick is that ya VR6?
what brand of dual headlights are those? Hella, Morette, In Pro or MHW??..
I was thinking of getting either the Hella dual's or In Pro mk4 style...
Corrado VR6. 2.9l in thge region of 180bhp. That makes 62bhp/litre. I make that pretty detuned, don't you?
Chris
I own a PC that changes regularly, so I don't bother putting anything in here...
all road cars are detuned a bit but the big restricting factor on a vr6 is the cross-flow head, mine has more like 90bhp/litre.btw the golf 2.8 has 174bhp and corrado 2.9 193bhp but when tested nearly all are slightly down on quoted power
3dfx...yeah thats mine m8,they are hella headlights,i did have some tinted mk4 look lights but they didn't suit my car with my home-made grillle so i put these back on
Tinted mk4? u mean smoked? ... cos I didnt realise the smoked mk4 style were available as RHD

smoked ,tinted same thing they were lhd but with abit of work they can be modded to rhd
argh, cant be assed with that... ill either just stick sum philips blue vision bulbs in, or fire those Hella's on
er, no. why? because a VTEC unit can push out 100bhp/litre?Originally posted by hotpurple

or do you mean it's possible for the engine to produce more power? sure it is, at the expense of economy and more bottom-end... so, you'll find that all manufactures tend not to produce engines in showroom cars at their highest state of tune, VW no less or more than anyone else, so whats your point again?
Manufacturers make cars and the engines a certain way for a reason.
the VR6 has 62bhp/litre cos AT THE TIME it was a powerful engine, had half decent mpg and, why did anyone need faster engines?
now the VTEC engine produces 100bhp/litre cos it a modern engine... technology moves on... its not needed in the car.. buts its there cos its a NEW sports car... the VR6 was an OLD sports car... yes 62bhp/litre wasnt ALOT even back then, but still... was anymore power needed?? it 0-60mph in 7secs too slow??
im with james on this one - the vtec units can push that amount of power but only by revving stupidly - they dont have as much umph down low. the normal vtec civic (which has the same 2 litre block as the type r) has less power but its a better car for most people - try doing 50-70 in top gear in the type r and you'd struggle to believe its got 200bhp. the 'downtuning' you speak of is just due to differences in engine design - bike engines can push 140+ bhp/litre but have buggerall torque.
likewise - that viper that came on here recently - iirc it had 500ish bhp from an 8.7 litre block - yet you'd hardly call a car like that 'detuned'..

5slap . depends what ur looking for , a car like that is defo for a "driver" , low down grunt is for more moterway , etc miles , boring on other words
but i guess it could be annoying somtimes ,like my bike is , dead below 7500k odd , so very annoying when i ain't in the mood , or going out quick to get some milk or somthin
Vauxhall being better than VW is like saying vauxhalls have fantastic handling. It's just not true! Whats the point of going fast if you can't go round corners fast. The Cavalier and the Vectra suffer from terrible understeer. Anyway all Vauxhalls with the redtop engines are boy racers cars and they're reliability don't even touch VW. As for the Rover 1.4 accelerating to 60 in just 11 seconds, yeah it will but you gotta rev the nuts off it to achieve that time. The Mk3 Golf GTi 8v doesn't need to be revved hard hard to go fast. Its not really powerful with 115bhp I agree but look at the Vauxhall Astra Sri Mk3 2.0 8v with 115bhp and it enjoyed popping head gaskets and waterpumps, and oh yeah what a surprise it couldnt handle.
