anyhow yes alot of cars do have that much milage at that age , but i am saying is that alot of cars won't make it that far on origninal engines etc

lets see how many .... novas you find with 100 plus in good con , before a smart arse finds 1 , thats just "1"

Actually, 100k wouldn't phase a 216 one bit as the old 216 has a Honda D-series engine.

well tumbles landy has done (iirc) 186k, and my volvos done 172k, both on origional engines. the larger engined version of mine which uses the 2l from the 240 has been known to do 3-400k without too much fuss

but anyhow i am not saying golfs take more miles than any othere car , just saying that for a car thats considered fairly cheap , and it mostly in small enginge sizes (normally bigger engines take bigger miles)it can do alot of miles , cos its a nice solid built little car

hmm for what they are and age th mk2 8v or even 12v (or 16?) are fairly nippy , fast as most small hatchs wit the same size engine

I wasn't aware that VW did a 12V. And I wasn't really refering to the GTis as they are very nice engines, especially the 16V.

nah, it's just the japs that do mad stuff like 12v engines. The Honda 12V 1.5 engine from the Mk1 CRX is fantastic. Hard to find a good one now though.
