I've always wanted an EVO as my next car but the running costs make Scoobies look economical. I might well do it tho - now I have a second car I don't use the Leon more than once a week..

Well if you have the wallet for it.. as I was saying

I got 65mpg average over the last tank of fuel. Of course, depends on your milage, but it can add up if it's your commute car.

    I commute in a 75bhp Audi 80 TDI

I think it does roughly double the economy of the leon..

but I bet you oil doesn't need changing every 7500 miles, or cambelt every 45000?

Likely cause its a hell of a lot cheaper than putting a lot of miles on his other car, and causing it to devalue (plus added costs of servicing and diesel...)

I do oil every 5k and cambelt every 20k

mainly out of chouce, pug cambelts are known to snap way before there reccomended life, and im not ruining my engine just yet

overkill methinks... I'd have thought a 306 shouldn't cost too much to run tbh - mpg might be lower than an xsi but, not by much

and couldn't you get 30-35 on a run?

    1. Economy (30mins either way, 5 days a week)
    2. Wife can drive the '80 and we take one car in.
    3. When I drive the Leon it feels very, very fast now (whereas before I was seriously considering IHI-ing it up to 350bhp or so because it felt slow). I tend to get out with my heart racing
    4. Keeps the mileage down on the Leon.
    5. I can park the Audi anywhere and not worry about it getting dinked
    6. I managed to get a door(!) in the back of the Audi yesterday - across the car one end touching the rear of the passenger seat, the other the boot. Big car!
    7. The audi has been lowered and the handling suprises the heck out of premium car owners
    8. The A14 is Britain's most congested A road

    Some of the reasons anyway

Part of the reason why I haven't replaced the Leon is simply because it's such a good all round car. The new one is overpriced and the interior's dire by comparison..
