Can I replace the rear silencer (imaged) by myself?

Hi, guys. I am new here and just registered a moment ago. The rear silencer of my car is rather rusted. Yesterday it was broken and apart from the downpipe. Can I actually buy this part and replace it myself. It looks not that difficult. Does anyone have the experiments before? Really looking forward to hearing your ideas. Many thank.
BTW: My car is Ford fiesta 1.3i (1996 on, I guess). Where can I buy this part if it is OK for me to do so.
    ---------------------------
Thanks for all the replies here [post] http://forums.hexus.net/showthread.php?t=108254 [/post]. There is the image of the joint point between the silencer and downpipe. Is that difficult apart from each other? I just enjoy DIY very much if the job doesn't take any risk.. And I am in Southampton. Anybody knows where I can buy the replaced silencer?

it may be cheaper to get your local quickfit to do it

however heres the box you need.

you might need some exhaust paste to help seal things.

+1 on local exhaust and tyre shop. to buy one at trade price from a retailer would cost the same if not more, or you may save £5

then say to yourself, is it worth saving a fiver to rip your knuckles off, have to get a lift to go spend a fiver on a clamp and some gun gum, and waste a perfecly good sunny day cussing under your car as you dont have a car lift and cant get enough grunt to yank the semi rusted thing off

Thanks to you all. Seems I'd better to do it at quick&fit. Is quick&fit different from garage? Or where is the cheaper place to fit this part? How much do I have to pay for the part and fit together (for example below)? thanks.

get the yellow pages out and ring round at least 4 places, 2 national names and 2 local no namers, about £30-40 fitted at a guess... common as part so dont let anyone rip you off.
