A 1.25 fiesta isn't that slow, granted you're not gonna set any sub 10s times doing 0-60 but then no suitable first car will.

I'll agree with you on the corsa and chav thing, but if yours isn't kitted out then you aren't going to look like them. Fiesta's though are just common amongst all people, yeah you see a few 1.3's encores with big alloys and spoilers but you see more being driven by everyday people.

Chavs get their mitts on all the suitable first cars, remember that insurance money saved goes on undeclared mods. But luckily they butcher them so you only become associated if you follow suit and make those tasteless mods.

Slow, All the chavs in my area have them, all kitted out and stuff aswell, thats why i hate them

only in the last four months have i got a car thats not slow, and i have been driving over two years..

Here is one you probably won't have even considered!

My Wife learnt to drive in an old Peugeot 405 turbo Diesel. Power Steering, air conditioning (standard in the later models) and very cheap to buy. I don't remember the insurance costing a huge amount either.

If you can find a nice 405 I'd recommend one as they are very cheap to buy, quite a good drive, well equipped and fairly cheap to run (ok, so maybe not so cheap - just checked - the 1.6 litre is ins group 6, 1.8 is group 7)

group 6 isnt really thaty high should be fine to be fair..

they arent to bad actually very cheap to buy, problem is the air con wont work,the leccy windows will break and so on

I don't think they'll be as cheap to run as something newer, they're old french cars, say no more

they are built better than 306 is..

a family freinds uses 405s for workhorse cars, and hes had a couple and they on the whole havnt really gone wrong that much mechanically.. and the best bit is.. if it breaks badly you buy another one with tax&test for 300 quid
