No, but my next car was imported around 3 months ago.
Are you looking at importing yourself or going through an agent?

it's not actually me wanting an import so I'll find out. I imagine using an agent easier is but probably a bit more expensive?
Dad's last car was imported from Belgium, wasn't too much hassle, but that was brand new, second hand market may be different...
If they want to import from Japan then an agent is better.
There are various ways, all varying in cost.
You can import it yourself, this is what the previous owner of my car did. This is easier if buying from a garage/dealership. If you are auctioning be VERY careful.
You can go through an agent, who you will pay a deposit to, give them your spec and price and they'll sort it out, normally through auctions.
You can buy pre-imported cars, places like Distinctive Cars or Litchfield do this. BUT remember you'll pay more as they have to store their cars.
Agent wise, I can recommend John @ DNA Cars (Google them). He's got contacts/agents at all 16 auction houses in Japan and will do you a very good deal.

Did import an Alfa GTV from Belgium, pretty easy, temporary plates in Belgium that you get to keep 6 months, no VAT to pay (there is VAT on used cars in Belgium) and a stupidly low asking price because of their tax system. all in all, fairly pain free and it saved me about 5k at the time (2000)

They do their own specials as well, Scoobys with trick diffs etc
