I've been trundling cross-countries all week between Gloucester and Ebbw Vale armed with our 55-plate 1.4 Civic and it continues to amaze me.
Now I know a 1.4 in a heavy car such as this should be slow, and it is, but driven with millimetre attention to the red-line it can embarrass much bigger cars and even the occasional turbo-nutter Vito!
Take this morning. I'd caught and passed a modern oil-burner in the shape of a Passat after he got himself boxed in at a couple of roundabouts. His attempts to keep up not only proved that liberal use of a 6speeder makes this little baby nippy off the line but that given enough car knowledge the torque advantage can be eliminated as well.
Of course get the wrong gear and the little 1.4 struggles gamely in a loosing battle but it's fun all the same.
My favourite bit though is that the quick-steering and firm suspension mean roundabouts are like a slalom, simply great fun!
