The courtesy car was a nightmare! I had the AA out 3 times to replace a sensor between the brake and clutch pedals which is used as part of the ignition system. Knackered sensor = car not starting.

A couple of weeks ago I was driving it and it kept stalling complaining of low oil pressure. I assumed the oil level was low despite the computer telling me the oil level was fine. Nope, the oil pump was knackered so that had to be replaced.

Mechanical faults aside, the car was very tiring to drive. It would tramline like nothing else I'd ever driven and the torque steer was on a par with the Focus ST so when the boost level rose abouv about 0.8bar the car would want to go left.

It was too low to get down my drive, the rear visibility was woeful and the parking sensors were about as much use as a chocolate teapot.

On the positive side though, the seats were quite comfortable. Not as comfortable as the R32 though.

I'll take some sound clips before and after

I've heard a couple of R32's that have a Milltek cat back - Wow is all I can say. At low revs it's pretty docile, the same as stock but stick your right boot down and lovely sounds emerge from the tailpipes. The stock exhaust sounds very nice, the Milltek is even better though.

At the same time I have the Milltek fitted I'm also having a new Haldex controller fitted to give the 4 wheel drive system a bit more rear wheel bias. As stock it sends most of the power to the front and I want to change that.

50:50 to start with in normal running but I can get a switch fitted that'll let me choose from upto 3 presets.

I've driven a friends MK IV R32 with a new Haldex controller and the difference was night and day! From talking to the guys who are going to install the controller (and Milltek) on my MK V, the Haldex system in the MK V responds even better to the new controller.

    Should be fun!

Re: Only a day old and she's already been hit :(

I'm itching to get the bluetooth module installed but time is against me. I was going to have a bash on Saturday but the girlfriend was over and I didn't fancy getting moaned at for paying the car more attention than her

Depending on how long it takes to get the Milltek and Haldex controller fitted next Thursday I may have a go then.
