    Re: Something for the weekend....

Well, as it's tomorrow, I just hired a Boxster - for just over £400 for the weekend including unlimmited milage, fully comprehensive insurance, and delivery/pickup.

    Hope the weather holds now!

    Re: Something for the weekend....

    Boxster or Boxster S?

Both good cars - S slightly quicker to 60 but you wouldn't really notice the difference till the wrong side of 100.

Let us know how you find it

    Re: Something for the weekend....

Just a Boxster, couldn't find a Boxster S for anything below £700+VAT, and then they cane you on the mileage ( ~£1 +VAT for every mile over 300 ). Considering we'd be doing around 500 for the whole weekend, that would sting. A lot.

    'Just a Boxster' love it

It is a genuinely good car - I'd be very surprised if you came out of the weekend with anything less than an immovable smile.

    Enjoy

Depends what you're after. London > Birmingham isn't exactly far but for pure exotica and fun it would have to be the Boxter S or SLK. M3 Convertibles and too common and will make you look like a pimp! (even though the coupe at least is a fab car).

Incidentally how are you managing to do 500 miles? Lon > Brum is about 100 miles.

    Re: Something for the weekend....

Final question - new or old shape?

I'd highly doubt it would be the old shape by now, but the new shape is a hell of a lot better (54 plate onwards).

    Re: Something for the weekend....

Good luck, its a good car as is the beamer.

Some of the opinions that come out here are astounding..

Love to know how a boxster s is a hairdressers car? As quick as an m3 pretty much..

And an m3 makes you look like a pimp? Maybe if you live in Norfolk but in the real world they are great practical all round cars, which have sold very well because they are good at most things and now cost very little.

I would have posted this on pistonheads if I were you, some proper responses would have come back then. Thier are some good ones on here, but some tat coming from people who are not in the know..

    Re: Something for the weekend....

Got a really good deal from this website:

Luxury and Executive Car Hire | UK Car Rentals - Guy Salmon

Just over £400 for the weekend, including unlimitted mileage, delivery, collection, VAT and fully comp insurance. At that price I was expecting a bit of a banger - check out some of the prices on the other sites - but they delivered a fully loaded 57 plate with only about 7000 miles on the clock.

    Stuff I liked:

It stuck to the road - much much less slippery than the MX-5 I used to have
When you put your foot down it roared off
The weather with a soft top
On board SatNav is very good

Stuff I didn't like so much:

It was impossible to slide around - even with the traction control off, you could put your foot to the floor, going round a roundabout, and it would grip the road.
It seemed to like changing up gears way too soon unless you were thrashing it
Didn't really like the tiptronic gearbox

That being said, it was still a really cool car to drive for the weekend, but I think next time I'd go for the manual. My best man (who was also on the insurance) was complaining this morning that his Golf GTI is so boring now having driven the porsche.

    Glad you enjoyed your weekend.

As for the boxter not sliding, i bet it does - you just don't know how to

    Congratulations btw.

That's spam/marketing, rather than trying to help people.

If you weren't simply pimping your company, then yes.

But as you are, don't let the door hit you on the way out.
