    Yep.

Car has to be younger than 10 years to require SVA.

Which means that I don't have to have the speedo changed (it's not an MOT requirement) - Probably will though just so I know how fast I'm going

It is worth importing these days?
Surely there are loads of 2nd hand eunos/ mx-5's for sale now esp the mk1 version?

D'you know how much duty/ VAT you are going to have to pay for it yet?

    I've paid:

    £900 for the car

I will pay about £700 for customs/shipping etc.

Then I need to pay £30 for MOT + £30 for rear foglight to be fitted (can't be bothered to do it myself)

Then £128 for registration and 6 months tax

Plus insurance which you'd need anyway.

So £1800 for a car which hopefully I might be able to sell for £2500 +

I doubt I'll lose anything on it... but on the same token it's not the sort of thing I'd like to do for a living.

I saw the car cheap and thought it would be a life experience - force me to work out how the system works.

my roadster had the rear fog light in the n/s/r reverse light - might be a tricky job though...

depending on the milage/spec, you should get over £2.5k on eBay (definately the place to sell these things)...

how did you source the car, and does it have any history/milege verification? also, can you ensure it's not a stolen car somehow? which shipping agent did you use??

I found it on ebay - it was sold with all the shipping sorted. All I have to do is to pick it up and sort out the MOT, registration etc. I'm a bit concerned that it could be stolen, and the mileage is a little high - so I'd expect that to be genuine. When I get it I should be able to tell you who the shipping agents were, how the cost breaks down (customs/shipping etc.)

    Watch this space....

jap cars are known to take high milage, which i've always though is odd, compared to us cars which are notoriously unreliable (generalisation yes)... i mean the yanks would normally have to drive their cars much further..
