russ maybe there is lead in ur water but the whole point of my post was that big als "deserve to die" was a tad harsh to say the least. I have no wish to rehash the speeding debate on this thread rather mypoint was that big al was bein a bit judgemental. and also i thought the whole idea of a forum was debate therefore surely if u disgree with a post or a thread u should say so???

So if a car driver causes an accident, but the other party is 1mph over the speed limit, is the car driver innocent Al?

    *attempts to drag on topic*

driver there could have been making a right turn, while the rider was overtaking... or it Could have been that the car was parked.. a mate of mine got knocked off his bike @ 60 by a car that pulled out into the side of him... f*cked his knee up good and propper but his bike (some 600 jobbie) carried on upright.. as they do.. went thru 2 hedges and wrote off a brand new escort on parked on a residential road.. bikes are bloody heavy (well, supprisingly so, specially a big engined job) and when they're going at 70 they can *easily* do taht kind of damage

1mph over the speed limit would not cause the accident above... And it probably wouldn't cause the death of all of those involved in the accident.

Do you guys actually take note of what I say or are you just trying to annoy me in every thread I post in? I have a problem with excessive speed that causes death, not 1 or 2 mph over the limit!

Bah, I don't care what speeds you do, just don't kill anyone else when you crash and take your own lives.

What caused the accident above was the car driver pulling out in front of the bike. 70 or 120mph wouldn't have made a difference to either party's chance of survival.

You have a problem with speed, I have a problem with drivers who cause accidents with their negligence.

I do care how bad your driving is, and I hope you don't kill anyone when you crash and kill yourself.

From what I can see in the picture above, there's no way the motorcyclist was going 70mph or less. If you can prove me wrong, I will retract my comment.

Whether it was his fault or not, I still believe he was going too fast and therefore he should take resposibility and he did, with his life (shame he took another too). Again, prove me wrong about the speed and I shall retract my comment.

Imagine the guy was pulling off the hard shoulder, if the bike was doing 70 and hit him side on it could do that much damage

that bike could *easily* have done that much damage at that speed.. the force/surface area ratio is about the same as on a car.. if you imagine, say a car weighs 4 times as much as a bike (reasonable estimate) - yet a car is 4 times as wide.. so imagine a car hit another car at 70, and the other car was stationary.. it could easily easily do that kinda damage.. there is a chance the rider was speeding, but he wouldnt have been having to

Well, personally (not that you lost seem to give a flying f**k about what I think), I can't see how a bike would do that amount of severe damage to an already moving car if it wasn't going at stupid speeds. If the car was stationery, then maybe... but what would a car be doing stationery on a motorway? But, since you all seem to think it can, I will try and keep the peace a little and say I was wrong.

When I used to drive, I used to always anticipate what other drivers are doing. If I saw someone in front of me as I came up behind them on the motorway I would slow down or mve into the middle lane just in case they would do something stupid. My mum always said to me, 'Always expect the worse to happen' and I never had an accident as a driver. People nowadays seem to drive around with the attitute 'if anyone gets in my way, it's their problem'. I wouldn't be at all surprised if the rider of that bike was speeding and had that attitude, but as I don't know, I will humbly apologise for my comment.

the car could for instance been turning right onto/off from a dual carrageway, thus been traveling at a low speed and perpendicular to the car.. its easy to do a supprisingly large amount of damage to a car.. i mean i managed to do £2000 of damage to an old polo on my pushbike.. which weighs *nothing* compared to a motorbike..
