hahahahawith ferrari's legal representative, nigel tozzi qc, describing brawn gp team boss ross brawn as "a person of supreme arrogance".
So, how many of the other teams will rock up to Shanghai with a new diffuser...?
Probably none - part of the reason why the other teams wanted them banned is that it would save themselves a total redesign of the car - very costly in time, money, and other resources...it's not as simple as throwing out the current diffuser and putting a new one in. Look at Barichello's car in Australia, a half mangled diffuser and the car was still quick...
Even if anyone does get one in for Shanghai, I'd be surprised if they can get much out of it - reckon it won't be until Barcelona, Bahrain at earliest, before we see teams starting to catch up - by which time Brawn, Williams, and Toyota will have found a few tenths elsewhere. It'll be like a season restart for some, and a good getaway for Brawn et al. Bring it on
Renault are rumoured to have been working on one for some time and Force India are known to have been, so I expect they'll have one soon - maybe already. Presumably BMW and McLaren too.
Ferrari and Red Bull (and STR of course) have a bit more work to do due to the complexities of the rear of their cars.
Surely as soon as it became clear that the trick diffusers conformed to the wording of the rules (with the spirit in debate), the teams would have started planning their versions.
I'd be surprised if e.g. Ferrari and McLaren don't change their cars sooner rather than later.
Yeah, I read somewhere it involves a complete redesign of their gearboxes
Good news though and a finger up to the big boy's who probably employ people to study regulations but still managed to miss it then argue that the wrong interpretation flouts the spirit of the regulations......'s
I just read up on Renault's - they have an initial one for Shanghai, its the design (or a variant of, at least) the FIA deemed illegal when Renault asked them during the design and development phase of the car.
Ferrari apparently to debut F60 B-Spec at Barcelona - the article is already outdated given today's news, they have to have a new diffuser by then!
iirc McLaren already have the new diffuser ready to go, they already had it for Aus and Malaysia, but didn't run it for some reason. It was on one of the commentaries from the races - someone asked if a big box they were hurriedly unloading was the new diffuser, and they basically said yes..
From what I've already read, most of the teams have an alternate diffuser in the works and have had for a little while - it wouldn't surprise me if a couple of the other teams had one running this weekend.
Besides, as posted above, even when Ruben's was completely broken his car was still faster than pretty much everything else anyway
Should be a fun race

Yeah, I guess they were hedging their bets over which had the greater benefit, running the diffuser, or collecting points if the other teams were DQ'd..
It wouldn't surprise me in the slightest if they had it this weekend though, if only on just one of the cars..
