    Frustrating V5...

I bought my car well over a year ago now... and at the time i got it taxed, i had to use the V5C/2... now a year later I have had no renewal letter and I noticed my tax was up whilst removing some flyers from my car last night... I come to look for the V5, presuming I'd had it at some point... but i never did...

So, did the guy who sold me the car not send it off, and its still registered in his name?

I've insured it and taxed it twice since i had it, surely it would have flagged up if i wasnt the registered keeper?

anyways regardless I have no V5, and had no reminders about my car... whats the next step? to phone the DVLA?

Best to give them a ring, that way if you do get collared you can't say you haven't tried.

    theyre not open today

every branch is open 9-5 mon-fri...

just went to the post office and they gave me 2 forms to fill out... which is pretty useless, as i need to tax the car ASAP, not in 6 weeks when im likely to get a V5 again

    Re: Frustrating V5...

AFAIK you can apply for a new V5 to be sent out at a small(?) charge. Just need to contact the DVLA.

Im guessing the guy will have registered it t you, then it got lost in the post/misplaced somewhere. Had you done anything stupid & your numberplate got pictured surely it would be linked back to him?

I checked on the DVLA website, and it told me the last time the car was registered was 10 days before i bought it... so he got the V5, then didnt send it off when i bought it from him...

shoulda got some speeding tickets tbh, that woulda served him right!
