Simple question, wasn't sure if they paid for cars, or if I'd have to pay them to take my car
Gave it a shot today and the engine runs, so must be better than nothing (no turbo spin up though, I think the turbo is dead)

Depends mostly on metal scrappage values on the markets. You would maybe get a small fee, but I dont think metal prices are that high at the moment. There's a lot of regulations now as well, WEEE disposal, oils to dispose of etc. I think that's why a lot of breakers yards have disappeared in recent years.
Personally I'd ebay it as a non-runner. Did it to my megane a few years ago and got just over £100 for it (timing belt snapped).
all in my non-professional opinion..
I know when my stepdad did it (took in an old modified Ford Mondeo that did 0-60 in 7 or 8 seconds but head gasket was about to blow) he got a pittance - £50-100 or so I think for it?
I'm not sure if that was partly because it had some stuff worth taking though - a lot of the engine parts were in reasonable condition and of a good spec, and the alarm system was quite valuable as well.

I think they would, but you would get more if you stripped the car down and sold each part separately.
Thats not a feasible option for me unfortunately.
The car needs to go, there is no space for it to go on the drive as the street is busy enough as it is, can't physically take it off the road so I can't SORN it (as it's just parked) and same for insurance and I can't afford to pay 2 policies while I wait for it to sell. I have to get a car to get to uni now I am about to go back following my operation, it's either a 30-45 minute drive and a short walk across the road (free parking as uni provided me with a permit) or a 2 hour journey across an hour walking and an hour on the train. It means I would spend 4 hours travelling a day while I wait for the car to sell. I can't see it selling any time soon.
I am taking the locking wheel nuts (got a full set in good condition) and plan to take the CD multichanger too but there isn't much else worth taking out I think. I also have the brake discs and pads I paid for but never got round to fitting.
3 day auction with no reserve and the stipulation that the buyer must collect asap.
Worth a go surely
