    I know, been looking at replacements hence mondeo, still... want it gone quickly though hence the price (want to get the insurance cancelled ASAP so I can take out a new policy...can't afford to run 2 policies)

    Re: £100 Car for the Scally Rally

    Blimey, Great find on the Gold but it must be a mis price... it's way too cheap even with nearly 200K on the clock!

    Might give them a call to confirm tomorrow though, would hate to miss out on a bargain!

    lol Finlay... so many cars you forget what they're called?

    Thanks but to be honest I'd *ideally* like something a bit bigger, Volvo Estate if possible! but I've plenty of time to purchase it so I'm in no massive hurry (yet) and I don't really intend to buy until the new year unless a cracking deal comes up !

    Thanks for all the comments!

    If you do go diesel and have some cold start issues, there's a magic aditive called gasoline

    Re: £100 Car for the Scally Rally

    That Niva looks like the thing Hammond drove across Africa?

    Question; why are some cars sold as 'Spares or Repair' but in the description they state they 'run well' etc.. some even have an MOT.

    What am I missing?

    Diesel that doesn't start you put petrol in? Is it safe to mix the two? I know Petrol has a lower ignition point so makes sense I guess...

    edit;

    Just found this;

    http://www.pistonheads.com/classifieds/1295168.htm

    Hardly practicle but if it's just the seats & wing mirrors it's an easy hit and would be lotsa fun... sleeping in tents rather than the car I suspect lol

    Thins the diesel out a bit, but it's got very poor self igniting properties so doesn't run great. Some engine's state that you can run up to 30% petrol at reduced performance in the grips of winter.

    The other trick is to carry a gas torch and warm the lines up before you try to turn the engine over

    Re: £100 Car for the Scally Rally

    don't bother with petrol in the diesel.. just buy a petrol car for that job.

    Besides... Lada's are only petrol

    Got to thank the OP for the idea, have talked to a few friends and we're looking into if we can put in a team or two!

    Really hope there's still room!

    Re: £100 Car for the Scally Rally

    I'm sure there will be plenty of room left still, I don't think many people start to sign up until the new year going by the forum threads for the past couple of runs!

    I haven't signed up yet and I'm not worried about not getting in!

    Let me know if you do, be good to know a few people that are going... we'll have to ensure we've all got some nice cheap CB radios for the journey!!
