hmm... 3k for a car which cost £14k, and will last the wife at least 5 years and loose a further £1.5k in that time... and returns 50mpg... and being a VW is built to last... go figure
edit: small? compared to what? a passat? (i do not have a size complex btw)
yeah small compared to passat/mondeo kinda thing..
i'd have thought in 5 years it'd loose more value than 1.5k? i mean no-one in there right mind would pay £1500 for a 14yr old car? maybe im wrong on all these things but i'd not realised cars were worth this much..

German cars hold the value alot better than other manufacturers due to the build quality and reliability!

i dont remember that
german cars do hold value a bit better but i didnt realise it was as well as that - i'd strongly doubt a 14 yr old golf is worth £1500. mx5 yes, because they are open top cars and are a load more desirable than a golf (like any convirtable is more desirable than a family hatch). im not saying he didnt get a good deal, i was just surprised they were worht that much - me dads 11yr old hatch (volvo 440, so similar spec/size to that golf) is barely worth £500 these days
