We need more police and less speed cameras.
Police offers can catch more than just speeding motorists and are a much better deterrant.

A speed camera does not.

If you look at the table in the link, the police will still be responsible for "Enforcement of road traffic offences" for the patrols, I think they just coloured it their own colour rather than a two tone colour to show thatthey'd both be responsible.
Sounds a bit daft having patrols that can't really do a lot though
A way of spending less money if ever i saw one.

10% + 3 afaik.
incidentally, afaik the m25 cameras only work when the speed limit <70 - otherwise they are just switched off

Agreed on the M25 cameras, I go through regularly at 90 plus, using someone in front as a 'blocker' normally and not during the working day No flash bulbs. The other question about whether they work or not......why do they need portable cameras through the roadworks when they have overhead ones already fitted? Having said that, how do you get as fast as 40 mph on the Heathrow section of the M25 on a Friday afternoon? 4 mph would be a closer guess.
But the other thing about cameras, they won't get the idiot using the road as his personal dodgem ride. If you want to find out what your car/bike will do then do what I do and book up for track days. Never get nicked for speeding there
