    Found someones Keys

    Hi Guys,

I was stopped outside bargain booze the other day and i found someones car keys. First reaction was to look around to see if i can see any cars of that brand around and press the lock/unlock buttons to see if it set any of the lights flashing so that i could take a registration making it easier to track down the owner, unfortunately i was out of luck. It appears someone has either randomly dropped their keys or magically driven off without them.

The keyfob on the keys has the name of a garage on it so i was wondering, should i put a bit of effort into tracking down the actual owner of the car by calling the garage and doing a bit of sleuth work, leave it all to the police and hand them into a local station or is there some other method of getting someones lost keys to them i dont know about?

I would go the plod route, if somebody is looking for them, they are most likely to ask the plod first.

    Re: Found someones Keys

Give them to the plod, if there were any numbers on them I would say give them a ring explaining what you found and that the plod has them, but I'd guess the garage keyfob means nothing more than they had a service there, they love to clip them on when they've got your keys.

Might be worth popping into bargain booze and telling them if anyone comes looking the police have them too.

+1 for the police. It's where I'd go looking for lost keys.

    Re: Found someones Keys

Makes me wonder whether I should put a contact phone number tag on my keyring with house/car keys.

Obviously not a good idea to put an address on, as finder could then go there to steal car/burgle house
