    Cost of timing belt change

I decided to finally change my timing belt (probably shoulda done when i first bought the car mind). I got a quote of £130 all inclusive (vat, labour) for the whole timing kit (belt and pulleys). It seems reasonable. Could anyone confirm if the price is what you'd expect? Ta.

Paid 100+Vat to get the belt replaced on my MR2- not sure if they did the pulleys, or if that's even necessary on my engine.

mine cost £20 for the belt and £15 to hire a 4ft long torque wrench, needed to undo a bolt, fit the belt then tighten that bolt back up to 450Nm so £35 in total.

Renault wanted £344 to do a timing belt on my Renault Megane Coupe 1.6 16v

£120 on parts.. idler, tensioner, belt, alternater belt.

    and 4 hours labour....

I ended up buying the genuine parts and my dad fitted it.... took him 4 hours too... and a bit planning as we needed to make some tools to lock the cams.

Well worth it though.... Peace at mind!
