If i buy a car and it turns out to have outstanding fiance

what happens to me for buying it ?

and dose anyone know any cheap online HPI checks ?


the people im about to buy a car from are leaving the country and dont have a HPI certificate to verify the milliage and stuff?

im just worried about losen so much money

i thought if i get a recipt saying sold to me for cash fom them
then no one can touch it

I've heard that you can get caught for it, I'm sure there was something about it on the telly the other month, this girl had her car impounded because it had outstanding finance..

I'll have a google and see if I can find something concrete..

Nope. If it's still got money owing then the finance company have a claim on it. The people selling it wouldn't have a right to sell it to you so it'd be up to you to claim the money back from them, which will be pretty hard if they're abroad. Don't take the risk.

if there's outstanding finance it can be repo'd, and you won't be able to use it for any trade-in..

If you do go to look at car and you think its iffy a good thing to take along is a little tub of nail varnish removing wipes. Really small and fit in your pocket. Find the chassis number and give it a little rub with one of the wipes - if paint comes off walk away. Factory paint won't come off, but if its been rung and they've altered the chassis number/filled and painted, or its had major work and a bit of a spray, then the paint will come off.
